Venetian Palace 04

This Palace, built in the 17th century by the architect Baldassare Longhena, is of enormous interest both from the architectural and the artistic point of view.

It houses a rich collection of religious works by the great Gian Battista Tiepolo and amongst them are some of the greatest and most beautiful he ever did.

It extends to three floors linked by an imposing double staircase built to Longhena’s design and completed after his death by Antonio Gaspari.

Its decoration throughout is typical of that period in Venice: vaulted ceilings, magnificent plasterwork and the widespread use of frescoes – some executed by Sante Piatti.

At the top of the third flight of stairs is the "Sala Capitolare", a grand drawing room with its collection of canvasses by Tiepolo, and a beautiful terrace, making it the ideal place for those seeking the ultimate in historic Venetian Palaces.
